UNDERSETTING (RD 2) AFTER ACTION REPORT

Well, I'm not sure exactly what I should say about this program other than "it's not for me".  Even after a second attempt with the program, I've come to the firm realization that this program is for an advanced athlete with an equally seasoned coach who can assist in thoroughly exploiting this program.

There are some issues I had with the program.  Mainly, the programming of specific movements.  For example, the inclusion of the "incline" which only occurred once per week.  Does this infrequency have any true benefit to the overall program?  Further, the placement of workouts in the most critical week (the fourth week) of the program seemed miscalculated and almost absurd by having the ramp-up workouts (Day 3 and 4) after the PR setting workouts (Day 1 and 2).  I'm not privy to the reasoning for their exact placement but my interpretation is that it's wrong and doesn't make sense.  Those days need to be switched respectively to properly prepare the athlete for the final days on the program, which should be the PR setting days.

In closing, would I recommend this program?  My answer is mixed.  If you have several years of experience on the platform with a seasoned coach nearby, then sure, give the program a run.  However, if you're a novice to intermediate level weightlifter, then I would shy away from this particular program.  Would I try the program at a later time with more experience?  Nope.  Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the check in the box.

I hope this provides a little help for those interested in undergoing this particular program.  So, until next time, go lift something REALLY HEAVY!
